Marco Pierre White – Canalside

The brief

Canalside are a new venue based on the ground floor of Birmingham’s iconic Cube and positioned right next to the canal. We were delighted to craft a new brand identity, logo design and collateral for the venue to market its unique location and offering for corporate and private event hire.

The Solution

During our discovery phase we explored the canal, the location and other venues around Birmingham. Many concepts were developed but in the end the central brand idea hinged on something that was mentioned during the immersion phase… The venue has been purposefully designed so that brands, no matter their style and individuals, no matter their personality can make the venue fit their event. “It’s like a blank canvas” our client mentioned. From this central idea we created a logo that’s much like a picture frame with the idea that guests can see themselves in the venue.

The idea extended beautifully to the brochure where we use the logo cut out with the iconic Cube building showing through. We chose a muted colour pallet similar to that used in the interior that allows brands and individuals to decorate as they wish without clashing of colours.
